This video, used within a Records Management eLearning course, was a lighthearted way to highlight internal problems.
RECORDS MANAGEMENT IS A SERIOUS MATTER.
Ultimately, Records management ensures that institutional records of vital historical, fiscal, and legal value are identified and preserved and that non-essential records are discarded promptly according to established guidelines and identified legislation.
Records management involves tasks such as setting policies and standards, assigning responsibilities and authorities, establishing procedures and guidelines, providing access to management and use of records, and integrating records management into business systems and processes.
Because it includes so many things, records management can be a bit daunting, but the benefits outweigh the risks.
THE PROBLEM:
The Federal Government requires all agencies to maintain a Records Management program. Prominent events, such as Hillary Clinton’s emails, shined an especially bright spotlight on the behaviors of Senior Officials. In developing training, it was important to address the behaviors directly yet delicately.
THE SOLUTION:
I began by working with the SME to identify the most widespread issues affecting the agency. My goal was to develop a solution that highlighted the problems, without offending the audience. An animated video was perfect!
The storyline follows a Senior Official as he retires from the agency. He does everything wrong. After sketching, I used GoAnimate to bring my vision to life. A key client stakeholder was especially delighted that I was able to customize the characters to reflect the diversity in their workplace.
